On overview of the benefits of using our road and ramp heating technologies

Winter time as most of you, I’m sure will know brings along the cold with it and with that more often than not snow and ice will follow. At this time of year the weather conditions can cause accessibility issues for both pedestrians and vehicles on roads, ramps, footpaths, stairways and more importantly emergency stairways and exits.

Because of this, cross electrical offers a varied range of ice & snow melting systems to melt the snow and prevent the ice from forming, helping to minimise the risk of any potential accidents.

Our solutions are made up of integrated heating elements and control units which are designed to be robust, reliable and rugged so they are able to endure the toughest condition and they can all be designed to meet any special application requirements.

However complex the area is we can get it heated.

Our snow melting systems are versatile in both design and installation and energy efficiency is paramount when it comes to the design features of our systems. This is why all of ours come with bespoke temperature control panels that incorporate electronic motors that have remote sensors mounted in the surface of the outdoor area to achieve maximum energy saving.

Whether the heating cables will need to be embedded in concrete installed directly under asphalt or integrated in to steps or stairways our products will provide lasting durability of service for any application.

If you are in need of road and ramp heating solutions or would like any other information, please give Cross Electrical a call on 0115 937 5121 or email us on heat@cross-electrical.co.uk where a member of staff will be only too pleased to help you.

Self-Regulating Heating Cables - What are they and why do you want them?

Self-regulating heating cables are cables that have a resistance that changes with the temperature; they have a low resistance for any temperature that is below the cable set point and a high resistance for any temperature that are above the cable set point. When set point for the cable temperature is reached the resistance heightens and no further heat is supplied, meaning that only where heat is needed along the length of the cable is where the heat is supplied.

When the weather starts to turn cold, and freezing conditions set in, it can cause pipes to burst and in turn causes damage to the pipe work and to the property because of the water leakage. Cross Electricals trace heating freeze protection heating cable systems works to avoid this winter hazard and will prevent pipes from freezing.

In especially cold conditions, thermal insulation can’t fully protect pipes from freezing alone and brutal weather might also cause fuel lines to clog.

Raychem frost protection systems safeguard water pipes, fire mains, sprinkler systems and fuel oil lines from frost in severe winter conditions.

Cross Electricals trace heating freeze protection heating cable systems safeguard, water pipes, Building services pipework, Fire mains & hoses, Fire Sprinkler pipework, Fuel oil pipework, tanks and vessels.

Pipework fitted with trace heating cables and thermal insulation will retain the heat output of the cables and provide an effective barrier against freezing temperatures.
